There are many types of materials you can use to create a dream catcher, or you can make a web out of almost anything. Here are some suggested items used for dreamcatchers:

(I use metal rings for items I post for sale.)
Wrap your ring
I use double-faced satin ribbon to wrap my rings. i love the variety of colour & getting good quality ribbon will help your creation to last. You can also use many other types of materais such as:

yarn

macrame cord

fur,

twine

leather
I typically only use leather for smaller sizes 1" to 4", which is due to cost of leather.
